Story

As many of you know this page was originally set up for me to raise money for Anthony Nolan so I could run the London Marathon. My grandad was diagnosed with Leukaemia and was given 6 months to a year to live late last year. Grandad was so excited about the marathon and was so supportive of me. It gave The whole family something to focus on through a really tough time. The target was smashed and I completed the marathon and all of the boxes were ticked.

Sadly grandads health deteriorated a few days before the marathon so he was unable to come to London but the family stayed with him round the hospital bed and watched it with him.

Sadly grandad past away on Tuesday night.

My family do not want flowers or cards and instead would like if anyone feels the need to send their condolences to our family..please donate to this amazing cause.

Thank you

So in 2016 I found myself devastated after not getting a place in the London Marathon. So devastated I didn't get a ballot place, I sought revenge on the London Marathon by entering the Paris Marathon! Which turned out to be pretty amazing and my memories of the day are all very positive, overwhelming and happy. (I think if I really remembered how it actually was I think  I would be feeling slightly differently now - especially if I remember the pain I was in from training!!) But memories are good things to haze the reality!

Anyway, the 2017 ballot came out and again I was devastated that I didn't get a ballot place. So after much debating I decided this is the year I need to just do it, so looked into charity places and after deciding I wanted to run for a blood cancer charity - I was pretty disheartened to learn that its not that easy and actually it is VERY hard to get a place in the London Marathon. I asked to be put on the waiting list for Anthony Nolan and gave up hope.

After a phone call from a lovely lady at Anthony Nolan and lots of tears later (Genuinely don't know if its happy tears or tears of fear and terror as my brain remembers the hell of training last year with the added stress of raising £1850.)......here I am. Training plan is in the motions and I am feeling exciting/very anxious about the whole thing. I did go for a 2 mile run yesterday before I was told I had a place and today my legs are in pieces. So that's positive! Haha.

I will keep you updated with my progress and how things are going. Every penny counts to help me get to my target and I appreciate in advance everybody's amazing support in this. In all seriousness, training for the Paris Marathon wasn't a great time for me and I did get various injuries - the last one Achilles Tendinitis 6 weeks before the marathon, where I was told there was no chance I would run it. (Can you tell I am starting to remember the reality now!)

My stubbornness and the support of everyone around me got me to the start line. And even if you don't want to support this cause, if you know anyone doing a marathon - show them your support because nobody can ever tell you the pain, frustration and general overwhelming emotion that you feel training and running a marathon, but also how totally worth it it all is when someone donates just a fiver or says well done.

SO THANK YOU!!!

I chose Anthony Nolan as it is very close to our families heart at the moment and I think it is an amazing cause. Here is a little but about the charity...

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. They won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
